Imperial War Museum

British Commission for Military History
The BCMH was founded in 1968 as the national branch of the International Commission for Military History. It serves as a forum for the discussion and promotion of military history in the broadest sense, that is naval and air as well as army aspects without any specific time limits.

Army Records Society
A not-for-profit organisation with charitable status that exists to edit and publish manuscripts relating to the history of the British Army. Every year it publishes at least one volume of documents. This means that these primary historical sources are made available to a wider audience.

Centre for First World War Studies
The Centre for First World War Studies provide an intellectual and social focus for the University of Birmingham’s community of staff and graduate students and for lay persons interested in one of the seminal historical events of the modern world.  The Centre also includes an outstanding group of ‘external’ Members who have contributed much to the recent flowering of scholarship on the Great War.

National Army Museum
The National Army Museum explains the impact that the British Army has had on the character of Britain, Europe and the world. It communicates the importance of the history and heritage of the British Army through its contribution to the delivery of the National Curriculum and life long learning, to the education and inspiration of servicemen and women, and in explaining to the widest audience the importance of the role the Army plays in the global community. An important aspect of the Museum’s work is to support the remembrance of those who have lived and died in the service of the nation.
